How today's "Capitalism" is failing

Here's another example of how corporations' way of looking at every problem makes us vulnerable. There was a time in the USA (and all over the world) when every community had somebody with the knowledge and equipment to take a live animal and turn it into steaks and burgers. Those butchers (and bakers and dairymen and others) had breadwinner jobs. A high school education and a lifetime of experience made them skilled and necessary to the community. Solidly middle class.
But it's cheaper to kill and butcher animals in a factory setting. When you are corporation, you look at every problem through the lens of maximizing shareholder value. You focus on where the pennies can be pinched.
This morning as I watched an idiot town deer shamble across a yard an analogy occurred to me. Capitalism as it is today in Merca is like the town deer. They are loosely based on wild mule deer. But they aren't really mule deer. They are inbred, they haven't faced predation in generations, they have lost all their fear of humans. They aren't any more wild mule deer than my dog is a wolf.
Capitalism, the real thing, Adam Smith's invisible hand, is based on agrarian markets in the 18th century. At the time everyone was a farmer, more or less. Like 99%? And it was very difficult to get big, economies of scale and what-all because your technology at the time was oxen teams and plows. And hand tools. So nobody could get big and have power to influence the market.
The price of your corn was based on supply and demand, period. If demand was high and supply was low the price was up. If demand was low and/or supply was high, the price went down. The invisible hand is exactly the process of individual farmers deciding whether to keep growing corn or switch to something that saw a better price because not enough farmers were producing the supply.
Show me where that kind of force is being allowed to function in this shit show. The invisible hand right now is crying out "let the airlines that can't make it die!". It's yelling loudly "somebody start investing in small scale local animal product processing!!". Who's listening to those cries?
Our capitalism is bullshit. Just sayin'
